A Pázmány Péter által alapított egyetem volt az első magyarországi intézmény, amely 1777-ben megalakította az Érem- és Régiségtani Tanszéket. Ez az intézmény végezte az első magyarországi ásatást is 1778-ban Óbudán, az ókori Aquincumban, és e hagyományt követi a Pázmány Péter Katolikus Egyetem Bölcsészet- és Társadalomtudományi Karán folyó régészképzés. 2017-ben négy tanszékkel megalakult a Régészettudományi Intézet.

Az erősen gyakorlatorientált képzés során a hallgatók csatlakozhatnak az egyetem és intézményi partnerei hazai és külföldi terepi kutatási programjaihoz, amelyek a változatos tapasztalat és szaktudás mellett szakmai kapcsolatokat és lehetőségeket is kínálnak a diákok számára. Jelen kötet számot vet és egyben átfogó képet is nyújt a tanszék kutatási, oktatási és publikációs tevékenységéről.

Description

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Pázmány Péter Catholic University also offers archaeological education and training courses. Conforming to the university’s overall profile and mission, the Department of Archaeology – the fifth to be founded in Hungary – strives to train archaeologists specialising in the centuries from the emergence of Christianity to the Early Modern Age as well as to conduct research on the same period in Hungary and abroad. In 2017, the institutional framework was expanded and the Institute of Archaeology was founded with four departments. The practice-oriented training is closely intertwined with the research interests of our Institute’s specialists. This volume is intended in part as a stocktaking of what we have accomplished and in part as a presentation of our educational work and our publications for the broader public. It is our hope that the present volume will offer an enjoyable overview of our research projects and educational activities to our readers.
